On September 27 and 28, 2025, the Ministry of Culture will participate in the European Heritage Days (EHD). Promoted by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, the EHD represent the largest and most widely attended initiative for the promotion of European cultural heritage. The event will involve museums, archaeological sites, archives, libraries, and numerous other cultural venues, with special openings and initiatives designed for the general public.
The theme chosen for the 2025 edition is “Architecture: The Art of Building”, a translation of the European motto “Heritage and Architecture: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future”. The aim is to highlight the role of architecture as a living testimony of the history of communities, not only as material heritage to be preserved, but as a symbolic space connecting memory and future perspectives.
During the two days, guided tours, conferences, workshops, and special openings of historic buildings, including sites generally not accessible, will be organized. Particular emphasis will be given to the initiative scheduled for the evening of Saturday, September 27, when state museums will open in the evening with a symbolic ticket costing one euro.
The detailed program of initiatives, including schedules and information, is continuously updated and curated by the cultural venues. It can be consulted on the Ministry of Culture’s website.
