The Directorate-General for Digitalization and Communication and the Central Institute for the Digitalization of Cultural Heritage – Digital Library of the Ministry of Culture, through the Ecomic digital ecosystem for culture, have supported the development of 23 innovative digital products dedicated to the enhancement, use, accessibility, and preservation of cultural heritage.
From a geolocated treasure hunt in the historic center of Naples, to narrative games built from documents preserved in a State Archive, from virtual reality experiences enriched with contemporary dance performances, to a platform dedicated to browsing the historical magazine "La Basilicata nel mondo," all the way to monitoring systems for the conservation of the Women's Forum Baths in Pompeii.
These are applications and platforms conceived to address the real needs expressed by numerous Italian cultural institutes and sites that have joined Ecomic. The projects are developed through the use of digital services, immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, and data management systems, and are organized into four areas of intervention: accessibility and inclusion, gamification, advanced fruition, conservation and restoration.
To tell these projects and the results achieved, 23 dedicated videos have been produced, one for each initiative. The content will be published starting Friday, June 12, on the social media channels of the Directorate-General for Digitalization and Communication, giving the public the opportunity to get a closer look at the digital solutions developed and their contribution to the enhancement of cultural heritage.
The initiative is part of the activities promoted by the Ministry of Culture to foster the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector, supporting institutions in the development of new services for the enhancement of heritage. In this way, the products developed help expand opportunities for access to and participation in culture, fostering increasingly inclusive engagement and promoting dialogue among cultural institutions, territories, and communities.
