The Ministry of Culture will take part in the 10th edition of the Florence Art and Restoration Fair, scheduled from 27 to 30 April 2026 at the Fortezza da Basso, alongside MIDA, the International Handicrafts Fair.

The Directorate general for Digitalisation and communication, together with the Digital Library, in collaboration with the Central Institute for Restoration (ICR) and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure (OPD), will present, on Wednesday 29 April, a session entitled: “Ecomic and Digital Library services for restoration and conservation: the experience of the Ministry of Culture’s technical institutes through case studies and operational perspectives.”

The session will focus on the collaborative information system currently under development within Ecomic - the digital ecosystem for culture -designed to support restorers by optimising heritage mapping and documentation processes.

Particular attention will be given to the presentation of the digital platform, alongside pilot studies being carried out in the field by the Ministry’s technical institutes, ICR and OPD, to validate the system’s operational effectiveness and refine its solutions.

The directors of the respective institutes, Giuliano Romalli (Digital Library), Luigi Oliva (ICR), and Emanuela Daffra (OPD), along with officials and technical assistants involved in the project, illustrated these innovations.

The initiative represents an important opportunity for professionals in the fields of conservation and restoration to share knowledge and explore the potential of digital innovation in supporting the protection of cultural heritage.
